  LanguageAgnostic Runtimes'03
  Component Issues and Kernel Requirements

Important Information:
Date:
Monday, October 27, 2003
8:30-17:00 Full day
Location:
Anaheim Convention Center
Anaheim, California USA

Themes and Goals:
The topics of our workshop include application level issues and their effect on language agnostic runtimes, and component based architectures. While the problem domain is restricted to addressing kernel requirement issues, experience reports from researchers building application level solutions for alternative languages and component models to the JVM, Squeak VM, CLI, or other virtual machine architectures are also welcome.

The explicit goal of this workshop is to discuss and possibly come to a consensus on what application level issues need to be considered in future virtual machines and advanced language architectures. We would also like to discuss the issues required to better support the needs of application level frameworks directly in the kernel of a language agnostic runtime and how to go about doing that. Additionally, engineering characteristics of component software such as packaging, deployment and release-to-release binary compatibility will be discussed in depth.
